A very unusual Victorian sewing box. The outside of the box is inlaid with a geometric parquetry inlay made from rich woods. The interior has a lift out tray with lids and dividers rich woods, era 1880s. The underside of the lid has antique mirror, the box has a lock and key excellent condition. (Circa 1880) Height (6 inches) Width (11.5 inches) Tunbridge ware meaning... [tuhn-brij] decorative wooden ware, including tables, trays, boxes, and ornamental objects, produced especially in the late 17th and 18th centuries in Tunbridge Wells, England, with mosaiclike marquetry sawed from square-sectioned wooden rods of different natural colors.
